The first week at age 10

In stories for 9–10 year olds the character sees why they chose as they did and how it lands on other people, and both sides of the same event are told. Friendship, fairness and privacy online come up. Belittling, stereotypes and plots where winning is the only measure are not used.

These are the real nightly goals of the programme published for this age band — not sample text. The story is written for your child; the goals are these.

Nori Tales — Knowledge and Awareness Programme

The first 7 nights

Each night ≈ 8–16 minutes read aloud.

  1. 1

    Night 1 · Introduction

The character learns that to tell whether something they have heard is true, they first need to check where it came from.

  2. 2

    Night 2 · A New Side

The character double-checks something a friend told them in a reliable book.

  3. 3

    Night 3 · Trying It

The character finds out whether something shown in a picture is real or a joke by asking an adult they trust.

  4. 4

    Night 4 · Two Ways

The character weighs up which of two different sources is likely to be more reliable, and chooses.

  5. 5

    Night 5 · A Small Setback

Seeing that a friend found different information in a different source, the character compares the two with them.

  6. 6

    Night 6 · Repair

While preparing a piece of homework, the character checks the facts in several sources rather than just one.

  7. 7

    Night 7 · Settling In

Relieved that they properly checked something they learned today, the character gets ready for sleep, feeling at peace.

“A message with someone’s name in it was going around the class group. Before passing it on, Chloe stopped: was it true, or was it just travelling fast? She did not forward it, and put the phone down.”
